Rabindranath Tagore also known as Bhanusimha, was a Bengali polymath and a Nobel Laureate, who worked as a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter of the Bengal Renaissance. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tagore was a prolific composer, with around 2,230 songs to his credit. His songs are known as rabindrasangit.
In honour of Rabindranath Tagore, the oration was started, by the Indian College of Physicians in 2004, by the generous donation of Dr Sukumar Mukherjee.
